Tabouret 100 at the Mobilier National

Two years of research were needed to publish in 2024 the very first piece of furniture printed in 3D in bio-sourced PLA-linen. The French Mobilier National is acquiring it today, convinced by this authentic and environmentally friendly design.

For the hundredth piece in her collection, Valérie Maltaverne celebrates high technology: the Tabouret 100 is the result of excellence, a value shared with the Mobilier National. The soft lines and bold creation of this new piece reveal, as always, the signature of the YMER&MALTA studio.

French Revolution

The contemporary furniture landscape reserves a very special place for YMER&MALTA creations. Through innovation, determination, and care for the best that French excellence has created over centuries, Valérie Maltaverne, director of the studio, unfolds the score of noble materials and opens up new horizons for them. Since the beginning of the 21st century, collections revisiting marquetry, marble, saddlery and tapestry have been born through her will.

This patient research work was to lead to the creation of new materials, borrowing from natural materials, magnified, able to meet the most demanding contemporary challenges. Drawing on the philosophy of Slow Made and developing soft and virtuous solutions, these high-tech innovations and the gestures elaborated to shape them have win their spurs in sustainable luxury. Wealth is now defined in the transmission of values, know-how and the objects they create.

When the Tabouret 100 was born, the Mobilier National immediately wanted to obtain primacy for the acquisition of edition no. 1.

French Flag

This stool formed by interlacing is shaped in 3D printing of PLA-linen. The Norman flax fields bending in the wind, memories dear to Valérie Maltaverne, received a tribute they no longer expected. Strong and elegantly modest, this flax weaves a natural, grainy and very French textile fiber that now leaves a new mark on modernity.

Tabouret 100 combines innovative and eco-responsible technology. The PLA of bio-sourced flax fibers – biodegradable and without endocrine disruptors – was modeled in 3D printing to achieve a homogeneous, full and soft texture that embodies the ideal of Quiet Luxury.
Specially for the Mobilier National, piece no. 1 of an edition of eight tricolor Tabouret 100 pays tribute to the colors of the French flag. The blue, white and red invite you to touch it through a rich and powdery thin-skinned lacquer. This is how Tabouret 100 carries high the ideal of freedom: this unique lacquered finish conquers all spaces, indoors and outdoors.

Millefiori

For the public editions, this new linen material is powdered with the colors of nature. Valérie Maltaverne delves into this timeless inspiration and paints a modern poetic. Tabouret 100 Fleurs declines a palette of floral nuances and offers itself like a bud ready to bloom. So many Duo des Fleurs that form a lyrical and harmonious bouquet. Duo of pink and orange peonies, duo of pink and gold queen daisies, hellebores peonies in raspberry and blackcurrant shades, red and carmine poppies, wine-red and purple irises, purple velvet morning glories in parma and amethyst, burgundy lace tulips in slate robes, marine veronicas edged in moss green, midnight blue hydrangeas haloed in indigo, garnet and ruby hibiscus, dried dahlias in bark and damp earth.

The vegetal and organic echo also covers the nested Tabouret in shiny shells and velvety pods. It is a whole meadows harvest that becomes furniture. Quite naturally, this hundredth piece concentrates the very essence of the YMER&MALTA studio: offering excellence in an imperishable nature.
