Aubusson Tapestry : The Great Lady Collection
YMER&MALTA / Sebastian Bergne
2018
Entre chêne et bouleau, forêt de Fontainebleau…
« (…) An elegant, two-seater sofa provides the vision of a misty undergrowth. The structure is almost invisible and the woven upholstery depicts a winter forest scene with the utmost delicacy. »
Bruno Ythier – Chief Curator at the Cité Internationale de la Tapisserie d’Aubusson
A series of photos taken in the Fontainebleau forest near Paris formed the basis for the cartoon design for this tapestry.
The moulded wood structure was made at YMER&MALTA. This delicate, sinuous piece has the warmth of the wood while retaining a finesse that allows it to disappear once the tapestry is laid.
This piece was presented at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris during Valérie Maltaverne’s Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres Award ceremony.
